Binhai School of Foreign Affairs of Tianjin Foreign Studies University

      The Binhai School of Foreign Affairs of Tianjin Foreign Studies University(TFSU), which was approved by the Ministry of Education in China in March,2004, is an independent full-time educational college. The School is administered by TFSU and employs a new system of leadership. The School is governed by a Board of Directors. The President of TFSU is the chairman of the Board of Directors. Chief administrative staff and faculty are drawn from the university. The School which is located on the Binhai campus of TFSU in Dagang District,Tianjin, with total land coverage of about 1,000 mu, borders on Dagang Economic Development Area in the east, and Lake Park in the west, with fine surroundings and convenient transport facilities. The School adjoins the Binhai School of Nankai University, the Clinical Medical School of Tianjin Medical University, the Tianjin Vocational Technical College of Industry and Commerce, and the Tianjin Branch School of China Judge Institute, creating a vital and diverse cultural atmosphere.
      Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), which was founded in 1964, is distinguished by programs in foreign languages and cultural studies, and provides expert teachers for Binhai School of Foreign Affairs. To meet the future needs of our economy and society, the Binhai School of Foreign Affairs of TFSU trains high-quality students with interdisciplinary knowledge and with special strengths in cross-cultural communication. Inheriting and building upon the respected traditions of TFSU with special attention to the students’ employment prospects, the School concentrates on studies in world economy, foreign trade and foreign affairs. The School offers twelve majors: English, Japanese, French, German,Korean, International Economy and Trade, Finance, Law, Administrative Management, Journalism and so on. There are eight departments of academic studies: Departments of English Studies, Eastern Asian Studies, European Studies, Economics, Management, Law, Journalism and the Department of Basic Courses.
      The Binhai School of Foreign Affairs has an enrollment of 1,730 students. The total number of students at the school is expected to grow to 5,000 in the future. Binhai School of Foreign Affairs is well equipped with advanced teaching facilities and resources, including ten language laboratories, fourteen multimedia classrooms and six audio-visual rooms, totalling 5,015 square meters. These teaching facilities and resources cost 12,000,000 Yuan. The School’s library contains 100,000 books, many of which can be borrowed through computer networking with the University library. The School’s sports program employs a standard plastic cement track and field sports ground, covering an area of 14,000 square meters and providing seating for 3,600 spectators. An indoor tennis court and outdoor playground cover an area of 15,126 square meters. Comprehensive service facilities provide for a variety of student needs.
      Capitalizing on the international exchange channels of Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), the Binhai School of Foreign Affairs vigorously fosters international exchange and cooperation, and attracts foreign experts for lectures and academic exchange throughout the year. The School has established cooperative programs with more than forty universities and other institutions in the USA, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Korea, Canada and Australia. The School has engaged in a range of cooperative projects with these universities by creating “3+1”, “2+2” (double BA degree) programs, through which students study, pursue advanced studies and are awarded degrees in cooperating universities at home and abroad. Our School has established a Sino-Australian double BA degree program with Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia. Selected students from the School take part in this program, and students with qualifing grades obtain double BA degrees from both TFSU and ECU. International students are also accepted into this cooperative program.
